Life... with only four letters in the alphabets, speaks volumes to many different individuals. As for us, life is what God has given and what we make out of it in obedience to Jesus Christ! So live life to the full... life is indeed exciting!

A Birthday Post

This post has very much been delayed in writing, but it will be blogged now as it is an important one! On 6th August, we celebrated my wife's birthday... or Mummy's birthday to the kids. We had a nice dinner at a restaurant, she opened her birthday present (remember the blue box with the red ribbon in my earlier post?) and then had her "cake ceremony" at home. She was very happy with the blouse and handbag that Josh and I bought. Phew!

Below are some pictures of the mini celebration. And oh, don't miss out the Birthday Song by our kids in the little clip below... very cute and worth the wait to download!!

The Cake Ceremony
The opening of the cake from the cake box... got the cake from Hot Cross Bun, our favourite cake shop in Miri at the moment. They now have nicer octagonal shaped boxes compared to the older days of normal rectangular pink boxes.

It was a blueberry yoghurt cake! One of our favourite cakes.

A close up shot of the cake.

And the candles are lit! Mind you the number of candles do not represent age here... so stop counting!! Candles were there mainly for the amusement of our kids! You can see how big a grin Jess has in the picture below.

Both Josh and Jess can't wait to blow the candles out.

Getting ready to sing the song.

Play the clip below to hear the song. The cake was cut after that and we all had a good share of the yummy cake!

Fun with Dinosaurs in Miri!

Dino Trek by Petrosains is in Miri! Actually, they were here since 15-August and will remain until February 2007! Talk about a long stay. They are exhibiting their dinosaurs at the Miri Petroleum Museum located at Canada Hill.

We went there today as Joshua kept asking us to bring him there when he saw the numerous banners that lined the streets, roundabouts and lighting poles. The banners have pictures of either an 'amputated' dinosaur foot or head... plus of course the usualy info.! This is indeed excellent advertisement albeit an overkill, I think! But one has to bear in mind that the London Royal Circus is in town as well... so there is fierce competition. Clowns or pre-historic lizards?? Decisions, decisions... (ya right, as if there were so many things to do in Miri! Ha ha ha! Most people will go for both actually to get away from the monotony of weekends in Miri.) Both Mummy and Daddy with Jess and Josh and also Kung-Kung went to view the exhibits at Dino Trek.

Tickets were priced at RM5 per adult and RM3 per child. Really worth it I think. Oh, kids under 3 years old need not pay. Josh and Jess had a lot of fun there, although Jess was a bit terrified by the mighty T-Rex at the end. Here are a few pictures we took at the exhibit.
(It's not easy to take photos of kids when they are all so excited with the exhibit when using a normal automatic point and shoot digital camera.)

There were cartoon dinosaurs... (you can see from this picture who stood still and who moved around a lot!! The blurer, the more the movement!)

There were cartoon looking dinosaur rides...

This was actually a game where Josh needs to paddle to out run another dinosaur chasing his dinosaur! Very amusing.

Some "flat dinosaurs"...

Tilt the table to move the marble around the dinosaur. Jess wanted to take the marble out and play with it!

Simple dinosaur puzzles abound, from this simple 2D to rotatable cubes type...

More dinosaur games... FEED ME!!

We were lost in the jungle in there!

There was half a dinosaur in there. Josh had a good time swinging and swaying the brochiosaurus' head.

There was a triceratop... a robotic one that is! It moves and makes lots of noise. Not much flesh.. ha ha ha! Must be a Malaysian dinosaur!!

There was this duckbilled dinosaur, called a Melaisaur (or something like that) and...

...it had babies! Jess simply loved watching the babies move in their cracked shells!

Ooh, the Mighty T-Rex! It is yet another robotic dinosaur that has skin and moving eyes and roars loudly. Very impressive.... definitely the star of the exhibit!

Some 'fossils' and 'bones'. Totally fascinated Josh!

Joshua's First Official Hair Cut

Joshua had his first hair cut from a hair saloon today. All these while, Mummy has been cutting his hair at home. It has always been a struggle for him to sit still and watch his hair fall on his body! Quite an ordeal for a little boy! So Mummy decided that it is time for him to follow Daddy to the hair saloon.

Today's the day. He behaved quite well actually, sitting there and fidgeting a little. It took something like 15 mins to cut his hair. Towards the end, he was getting restless and wanted to get out of his chair. But all in all, he was a brave boy. His 'Kong Kong' was there to give him support as well.

So what were his last words when he left the hair saloon?
"I don't want to go to the barber again!" :(

Oh well, I hope he will forget what he has said when it's time to get another hair cut... for now, we will let him be! :p

An unpleasant happening

Something unpleasant happened at our office today. A guy visiting our office for a meeting (not my meeting though) met a road bully. Apparently, he was being chased by this guy (we'll call him X) right to our office lobby. A 'fight' broke out but no one was physically hurt. Mr. X took off and the victim lodge a police report. After returning from the police station, he parked his car at our car park to proceed to his meeting but little did he know that Mr. X brought his buddies and smashed up all the window screens on the victim's car! All windows except the front windshield. Mr. X and his buddies fled and the poor guy was all distraught! The police came on scene and at one point I saw one of them carrying a machine gun!

That was the most horrible thing to ever happen during my years of service here! Gangsterism is on the high.. and sad to say, Miri is not spared! What I later found out was that the victim was driving along the road when Mr. X rudely cut in and the victim's car scratched Mr. X's car. Of course the victim honk Mr. X to warn him but was too late. So Mr. X got all angry and that was how all that started! So sad, yet true.

Isn't this world becoming more and more wicked?

Do you know this song?

We had lunch at the "new" Boulevard Restaurant this afternoon (will blog about the lunch / place later) and whilst we were enjoying lunch with the kids, they were playing this nice song over the P.A. system. I've heard this song before and I know it is a chinese song BUT I do not know the title nor who the singer is. Can anyone help? Can you tell me the singer and the title of this song? It's a nice song that I would like to add to my collection.

Oh, when you play the song (click on the podcast logo), you will also hear Josh & Jess' (including Mummy and Daddy's) voices (plus others at the restaurant). The music (an instrumental) is in the background.

P.S. Apologies that the music did not play earlier. I have corrected it now. Still appreciate your help! :D

Father and Son outing

This morning, Josh and I decided to go out for breakfast and do a bit of shopping together. Mummy was tired so we let her rest at home. Jess stayed with Mummy.

I sat him in the front passenger seat (with seatbelt of course) and on the way to the coffee shop, he was asking all sort of questions. Curious little boy! ;D

We went to a nearby coffee shop at Pujut 2 and we ordered noodles and wanton for breakfast. I had my "teh-si" with my noodles whilst Josh had his wanton with water in his bottle from home. He was very well behaved. Ate up all his breakfast, too.

After breakfast, we headed to a few places to get ready for an important day tomorrow (will not reveal it now but will blog later about it!). Josh was a very helpful little shopper. So it was an easy task to get what we wanted. Here's a picture of the outcome of the trip.

On the way home, we got a tray of eggs as well but by that time, he was feeling a little tired from his shopping 'spree' in the morning.

P.S. The London Royal Circus is in town again! Posters are everywhere and Josh would get excited when he sees the poster and when we drove past the Big Top!

Josh and Jess at the pool

Last weekend, we had our church camp. We had a wonderful time. The kids enjoyed it too and the pool was really very enticing from day 1. It was difficult to drag both Josh and Jess out of the pool when it was time to get out!

Here are some pics of them enjoying themselves in the pool.

Our guest speaker was Rev. Francis Khoo from Singapore. An anointed speaker with an amazing testimony!! God is indeed great in His saving power!
