Life... with only four letters in the alphabets, speaks volumes to many different individuals. As for us, life is what God has given and what we make out of it in obedience to Jesus Christ! So live life to the full... life is indeed exciting!

Family Trip to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah - Part 2

Our Kota Kinabalu tale continues... second part of the trilogy.

After a hot day and some refreshing coconuts plus a nice exotic local lunch at Inanam, we headed back to the apartment where we were putting up; Waikiki Condominium. The adults were drained out by the hot sunny day but the kids (after taking a nap in the car on the drive back) were super energised and wanted to play at the playground at the condominium. Since the playground was shaded in the afternoon, we let them play there... supervised by daddy of course; whilst the others had their afternoon nap.

Josh having a go at the spiralling structure. He climbs like a monkey!

Down the slide... again, and again and again and... you get the picture.

"Look Daddy, I'm riding a triceratops!!" (I can imagine her saying that!)

"And now a T-Rex!!" (Daddy faints!)

Both Josh and Jess enjoying the playsets at the playground.

And getting ready to go down the double slide!!! Wheeeeeeeeee!

Early the next day, we decided to drive up to the mountains, Kundasang to be exact. We would have to pass the Kinabalu National park (plus other small towns) to do that. It was also an attempt to show the kids what mountains and valleys are.

Nabalu town, where we had a loo and fruit (bought some bananas and other fruits at the stalls) break!

Nabalu has this tower like structure for people to climb up and savour the fantastic view of the mountains!

Some pics taken of the when we were up on the tower!!

Yes! The majestic Mount Kinabalu.

Here's one with Josh in it. Mount Kinabalu is behind him. The Mount is partially covered by the clouds, which is pretty normal. This is how Sabah is called "the Land Beneath the Wind!" - lots of breeze to carry the clouds up the mountains.

Now Josh always seem to attract a lot of freebies from aunties wherever we go. This time, whilst we were browsing through the local handicrafts, an old native lady gave Josh this little beaded crocodile or lizard. It is beautifully done and Josh was so pleased!

The Kadazans here are a musical bunch with lots of musical instruments. Below is a picture of some unique 'guitars' from this indigenous group.

After exploring Nabalu town, we drove on to Kundasang. We reach this hotel called 'Hotel Perkasa' at Kundasang. It is a hotel situated on a high place with pine trees lining the road leading to the hotel. We had lunch there and enjoyed the local Sabah vegetables.

Since it was at such a high place, it had a fantastic view! Here are some pics we took there.

Oh and it is cool in the mountains, climate wise.... very nice!

Hotel Perkasa has a nice garden filled with very colourful and gorgeous flowers.

Josh and Jess' grandma just loving the flowers!

End of Part 2. The last and final part of the trilogy will have cacti, sand, sea, fishes and more! Keep watching this space!
